Tim Ryan is a Public Affairs and Public Relations Consultant offering a boutique personal service to clients. A former political journalist, he has over 30 years experience in monitoring, analysing and writing about a wide variety of issues at local and national level.
The author of five books he is an experienced script-writer. Among his key skills is the ability to take complex and specialist issues and present them in straightforward, easily understood language and to deliver to tight deadlines.
He specialises in monitoring debates in the Houses of the Oireachtas (Dail, Seand and Committees) and lobbies Government, Oireachtas Committees, TDs and senators on a range of issues. He also drafts and edits regular reports and submissions to government and Oireachtas committees.
His vast experiences has been widely drawn on and he is a part-time lecturer on Public Affairs at the Public Relations Institute of Ireland and is a ministerial appointee to the Board of the Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) which oversees the regulation of the private rented sector.
Tim Ryan is also very familiar with EU affairs and has vast experience of how the institutions in Europe operate. He works on regular contracts for the EU Representation in Ireland and liaises closely with the office of Ireland’s Agriculture Commissioner in Brussels.
He is the author of a number of books, including three political biographies The Longford Leader, (Albert Reynolds), A Safe Pair of Hands (Dick Spring) and Mara, PJ. He also edited a history of the Irish Agricultural Wholesale Society Group (now Aryzta) to mark its centenary in 1997. In 2014 he completed a Masters’ thesis in UCC on the emergence and growth of spin-doctors in Irish political life.
